Hi, I’m Mal Lewis, proprietor of Lennox Furniture Restoration. I have 20 + years experience restoring and polishing both antique and modern furniture pieces, musical instruments and various other pieces that required some love and attention to bring them back to their former state.
I trained under Joe Garreffa, one of the most experienced and highly regarded restorers in South Australia, who has operated his own business for over 55 years continuously and has worked restoring furniture, paintings, musical instruments and objet de art for the S.A . Art gallery, S.A. Museum and Governor’s Manse to mention just a few.
My specialty is French Polishing and musical instruments, in particular modern finish pianos. I completed all of the on-site repairs to pianos for Allens Music, Festival Music, Winston Music and the Festival Centre working on upright and grand pianos from Kawai, Yamaha, Steinway and Bosendorfer. I have also re-finished electric guitar bodies and finished acoustic guitars for luthiers.
I have completed French polishing work for many private and corporate clients including the ANZ Bank, Elders Pty Ltd, ATO, PriceWaterhouseCoopers and several Adelaide Law firms.
While under the tutelage of Joe Garreffa we completed many varied projects including gilding, porcelain and china repairs, plaster carving, oil painting restoration and veneer replacement.
My experience also includes modern spray finishes commonly used on doors, stairs and modern furniture and wax finishes including single pre -catalysed and two pack lacquers.
All of my work is completed by hand with an eye to detail learnt from years of applied experience.
All of the products used by Lennox Furniture Restorers are of the highest quality including waxes and finishes from Constantia Furniture – World renowned master furniture builders based in Port Lincoln, S.A. and Wattyl spray laquers.
